We are a local church of Christian believers seeking to gather to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ alone. We are non-denominational and an autonomous group before the Lord, where Christ is the Head of the church, using Scripture to guide our practice.

LOCAL CHURCH RECEPTION
As a church assembling in the local suburb of Burleigh Heads, there are certain protections given by God to protect the local church. This is the “within” and the “without” of the local church, where this is seen practically as only those who are in fellowship (Acts 2:41-42 and 1 Corinthians 5) in our local church participate in the symbols of the bread and wine representing Christ’s body given and blood shed, and participate in the public praise, worship and teaching during church gatherings. While all believers in the universal church body worship the same Lord Jesus Christ as Lord, there are often many doctrinal and practical differences that can make fellowship challenging at times. For this reason, there is a seat reserved at the back of the hall for guests and regular attendees not yet in fellowship with the local church, to come and observe how we gather until a time in which they may request to be added to the local church (1 Corinthians 14:16). For visitors from other assemblies of believers gathered to the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, we would request that a letter of commendation is brought to aid in receiving you in confidence to the local church on a temporary basis. If this is not possible, please phone ahead to notify us of your visit.

VISIBLE HEADSHIP & ROLES
A way that headship is carried out practically in church gatherings, is to recognise Christ as the Head of the church; men leave their heads uncovered, and women wear a head covering (1 Corinthians 11). This is also observed with men taking the audible role of collective worship, prayer and teaching (1 Timothy 2:8) and women taking the inaudible role of worship and prayer (1 Timothy 2:11-12) in church gatherings. The whole church join together audibly for praise and worship through congregational hymn singing.

FUNCTIONING MEMBERS OF THE BODY
While many other gatherings revolve around a sermon, we view the focus of the Lord’s Supper meeting as revolving around the remembrance of our Saviour and His sacrifice, and observing His command to remember Him with the collectively shared bread and wine (1 Corinthians 11:24-26). There is no hierarchy of roles within the local church, but members of Christ’s body functioning within their God-given gifts to bring praise, honour and glory to the Lord (1 Corinthians 12:4-31), seen in the public prayer, praise and teaching of brothers in fellowship with the local church. Three brothers share the responsibility of shepherding and protecting the local church in their work as elders.
